Behind The Curtain Of Electricite De France
Filed Under Country Curtain | Posted on December 17, 2008
Nicolas Sarkozy, President of France, has outlined plans for EDF to construct a second plant. The Flamanville reactor is expected to be online in 2012; with nine more reactors in the United Kingdom, China and the United States at Calvert Cliffs in a deal with Constellation expected to be constructed and working by 2020.
The company’s CEO, Pierre Gadonneix, has held the position since 2004. In 2005, the company took control of Edison, Italy’s second largest energy supply company before the group’s expansion into the international energy markets in 2007 with the relaunch of nuclear power generation.
Constellation owns 3,869 megawatts of nuclear generation capacity, consisting of Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant in Calvert County, Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station and R.E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in New York.
