Raising the curtain on local talent

Art enhances the lives of not only the
individuals who create it but also of those who view it, listen to it and perhaps in some cases even taste it. It has a calming quality and if last week’s talent show at George Elliot Secondary is any indication of the abilities of Lake Country’s next generation of artists then the community need look no further than its own borders for its future artistic needs.
The show was open to all students and in the end 31 pieces of art were submitted some by individuals, some by groups of friends and some by classes. The two hour show was a mix bag of dances, vocal and instrumental performances, and video recordings.
Many of Friday night’s performers will be graduating this year and are pursuing careers in the arts next year as they head off to post-secondary fine arts institutions across Canada and the United States.
