The Sharper Image To Close Curtain On Store At Mayfaire

It’s a sad day for fans of the Ionic Breeze air purifier and the Turbo-Groomer.

The Sharper Image in Mayfaire Town Center is one of 90 stores out of 184 that the San Francisco-based company is closing as a result of filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February. Mayfaire officials expect the curtain to close for the national gadget retailer within six weeks.

While The Sharper Image is the only store in Mayfaire closing at this time, officials there say, it’s not the only major retailer experiencing financial difficulties. Other companies that have locations at Mayfaire and have reported store closings recently are Kirkland’s, Ann Taylor and Cost Plus World Market. Kitchen Curtain In addition, Eddie Bauer and Linens ‘n Things, both in Mayfaire, made S&P’s latest list of “weakest links Curt Flood,” which shows companies that have the lowest credit ratings and face a strong possibility of additional downgrades.

Mayfaire officials are quick to point out that while The Sharper Image is closing, several new businesses are on the way to Mayfaire Town Center. Construction has begun on new buildings for J.Crew, TrySports and Brixx Wood-Fired Pizza. The stores and restaurant are scheduled to open in about five months.
