HONDA’S Accord Euro sedan has been a popular model for nearly
five years but, with the arrival of an all-new model set for the
middle of the year, Honda dealers have sharpened their
discounts.
The Japanese-built 2.4-litre, four-cylinder Accord Euro is now
available with free on-road costs and an extra two-years/40,000km
on its factory warranty, taking total coverage to five years and
140,000km. The saving in on-road costs is valued at more than
$4800.
The standard six-speed manual Accord Euro is now $37,702,
drive-away; the better-equipped six-speed manual Euro Luxury is
$45,066, drive-away.
Some luxury models also have the optional satellite navigation
system fitted, which adds $3000. Five-speed automatic transmission
adds $2000, metallic paint $300.
The standard Accord Euro is equipped with four airbags,
stability control, anti-lock brakes, cruise control, 16-inch alloy
wheels, headrests for all five seats and height-adjustable front
seat belts with pre-tensioners.
Other equipment includes dual-zone air-conditioning, driver’s
seat height adjustment, cloth trim, height- and reach-adjustable
steering wheel, six-disc CD player, split-folding rear seat and
leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls.
The Euro Luxury gains curtain airbags, leather trim, eight-way
power driver’s seat, four-way power front passenger seat, heated
front seats, headlight washers, two-way power sunroof, rain-sensing
windscreen wipers, front fog lights and woodgrain finish on the
console.
Both Euro models come with a full-sized spare wheel, security
alarm and engine immobiliser and lap-sash belts on all five
seats.
The next-generation Honda Accord Euro was shown recently at the
Geneva motor show. It is larger than the current car, with a wider
track and pronounced wheel arches. It has an upgraded 2.4-litre
engine with significantly reduced emissions and better economy. A
new-generation diesel engine also could be sold here.
Honda sales in Australia last year rose by 11.7 per cent
compared with 2006, with the Civic sedan the top-selling model.
Sales in the first two months this year also increased by 10 per
cent over the same time last year.
