Blaze destroys mobile home in Redding

A fire started by a smoldering curtain destroyed a
mobile home Saturday afternoon in the Shady Acres Mobile Home Park in Redding.
Corky Duggan, who lived in the single-wide trailer, was able to escape the flames and no one was injured, Redding Fire Department spokesman Jeff Granberry said. Firefighters were called to the fire just after 1 p.m. in the park at 2700 S. Market St.
Quick action by Redding firefighters kept the blaze from spreading to nearby mobile homes, Granberry said.
A lamp started a curtain on fire inside the home and Duggan put the curtain in a trash can, Granberry said. The curtain was not completely extinguished and the trash can’s contents caught fire, which spread to the rest of the home, he said.
