As Auburn fans began to file out of the north end zone stands, the Commodores came out and greeted a joyous Vanderbilt crowd, celebrating the win with fans who remained in the seating areas.
“That was actually unexpected and we enjoyed it,” Vanderbilt senior George Smith said. “We had a little fun out there, doing a little dancing, waving the flag and representing Vanderbilt well.”
Vanderbilt Coach Bobby Johnson said the players’ decision to come back to the field didn’t come at his urging. Johnson wasn’t with the team when the players decided to come back out.
