Curtain falls on political career

Thirteen years in local government have come to an end for Cr Norm Mann, who attended his last full council meeting last month.
Cr Mann said he had been tossing up the idea of retiring from public life for a while, but it was Peter Andren’s untimely death that decided him.
Some of these projects were started by the previous council and many are ongoing.
They include improvement work at the Mt Panorama circuit, the CBD infrastructure replacement project, the building of levee banks which has seen 90 houses purchased by council over time and the sealing of the Hill End road.
Cr Mann is also proud of the Village Infrastructure Program, implementation of a new recycling service, approval of two new shopping centres, expansion of the National Motor Racing Museum, construction of the new aquatic centre, approval of an adventure playground, the construction of a regional saleyards and closure of the old yards and negotiations for a new running track at CSU.
