The Curtain Rises On Opera At Port Huron Movie Theater

That’s exactly what Krafft 8 is offering through its live satellite broadcasts of the Metropolitan Opera. “A lot of theaters are branching out,” theater manager Matt Bieth said. “We started doing alternative content about six months ago with political analysts Glenn Beck.”
He expects attendance to increase further. The opera performances offer moviegoers something different.
“This is a one-night performance as opposed to a regular feature that runs several weeks,” he said.
Besides the satellite broadcasts, encore presentations also are shown.
Michelle Cherry, 60, of Port Huron Township attended a encore presentation of Strauss’ “Salome” earlier this month.
