Real Madrid winger Robinho was included this Saturday in Bed Schuster’s squad for the first leg of the Spanish Supercup in Valencia.
Robinho’s inclusion should end speculation over whether or not the Brazilian would refuse to travel as he continues his campaign to force the club to sell him to English Premier League side Chelsea.
“I am certain he is going to stay at the club and I don’t have to drive myself crazy because he is going to remain as our player. It is not a problem,” said Schuster in his pre-game press conference on Saturday lunchtime.
Schuster named 18 players to travel to Valencia as the reigning Primera Liga holders, Madrid, take on the winners of last season’s Copa del Rey.
The first leg of the Supercup will be played on Sunday night with the return leg in the Santiago Bernabeu stadium a week later.
Real are without Fernando Gago and Marcelo, both at the Olympic Games, while Fabio Cannavaro is still recovering from an ankle injury he picked up before June’s European Championships.
Valencia meanwhile will include both David Silva and David Villain their side.
The pair of Spain internationals have both been linked to Real over the summer, but coach Unai Emery has made no secret that he does not want either of them to leave.
Meanwhile the Valencia coach wanted to mark his competitive debut by lifting the first silverware of the campaign
“It is important and very attractive to have the chance to win a title. The fans are looking forward to it and we are going to try and give them something to enjoy, because games against Real Madridare always attractive,” said Emery on the club website.
