Fall Of The Iron Curtain Opened Borders To Lonely Hearts

The fall of the Iron Curtain started a whole new source of mail order brides seeking a Western husband.
The number of Russian brides participating in the mail order business was rather large.
With the introduction of the Internet in the 1990s, the mail-order bride system made introductions faster and more time-efficient.
But more importantly, it increased the odds of finding a soul mate thousands of miles away.
Today, all one needs to do to find a spouse is to just click through the more than 200 different services in which foreign women advertise for husbands.
There are two types of such services.
In the first type, the womens’ names, photographs, biographical sketches, and addresses are made available in hard copy brochures or on the Internet.
The agency also provides photos and descriptions of the women who do not display their details upon request by a prospective “bridegroom”.
Basic subscription is free but upgrading your membership for additional services will cost you.
Another method is to find a mate through e-mail and “pen-pal” clubs.
