Mallorca started well but Los Che eventually made the breakthrough thanks David Villa’s opening goal in the 34th minute at the Mestalla. That proved crucial as Valencia went on to play more attractive and free-flowing football and wrapped up the three points courtesy of Juan Manuel Mata and substitute Vicente Rodriguez’s goals.
“Mallorca started better but I think that the first goal was crucial for us,” Emery.
“We improved in the second half and we were superior to our rivals. We played much better and we deserved the win.”
