Dalbeattie High School was about to put on its annual Christmas entertainment on Friday night when part of the town was blacked out.

Four hundred customers in all were plunged into darkness for almost two hours.

Now the students are preparing to do it all again tomorrow night.

Tom Cuddihy, the lead teacher for the production, said: “The kids were really great considering what happened.

“They handled the situation really well and for a while they were singing Christmas songs in the hall, in the dark.”

The school said all tickets sold for last week’s cancelled performance will be valid for this Friday and some tickets will be available on the door.

Anyone who cannot make the re-arranged performance can get a refund for their ticket from the School Office.
